Admissions Requirements
Application for Admissions
– Non-refundable application fee ($100.00)
Student Writing Sample (3rd-8th Grade) – Must be Handwritten
School Recommendation Form (Pre-K-8th Grade)
Release of Information Form (Pre-K-8th Grade)
– Photo of student
– Copy of Birth Certificate
– Copy of Baptismal Certificate (if Catholic)
– Pre-K-Kindergarten: Play session in classroom
– 1st-8th Grade: Interview between parent, student and SSCA faculty/administration

Age Requirements
– Nursery (3-year-old) students must be three years old by December 31
– Pre-K students must be 4 years old by December 31
– Kindergarten students must be 5 years old by December 31

School Tours / Buddy Days
– Please refer to our online calendar for a listing of our tour dates
– Tours are by appointment and for adults only
– Students can visit our school on a Buddy Day
– Tours and Buddy Days can be scheduled through Julian, information above

Important Dates

– Nursery Acceptance Notifications Sent: Thursday, February 2nd, 2017
– New Pre-K – 8th Grade Student Acceptance Notifications Sent: Thursday, March 9th, 2017

History In Brief
– Saint Saviour Elementary School was founded in 1906. (More history)
– Became Saint Saviour Catholic Academy in 2012, an independent school governed by a

– Approximately 375 students enrolled in Nursery through 8th Grade
– Average Pre-K-8th Grade class size: 20
– While the majority of the student body hails from the local area, we do represent most zip
codes in Brooklyn
– Cultural, ethnic, religious, and economic diversity is welcomed and well-represented
– Each year, graduates are accepted into prestigious Catholic, public, and private high schools
– 40 faculty and staff; majority with graduate degrees in their field

Transportation (OPT) for eligible students

– Early Morning Drop-Off offered starting at 7:30 AM
– After School offered from dismissal until 6 PM
– Enrichment Classes after school. Past classes include Art in the Studio, Italian, Silly Science,
Puppet Workshop, Yoga, Origami, and World Drumming

Curriculum Enrichment
– Explorers of Learning – extracurricular program for academically advanced 6th – 8th Grade students

Uniform
– Students in Kindergarten-8th Grade wear comfortable uniforms that help raise school spirit,
good behavior, and professionalism
– Nursery and Pre-K do not wear uniforms

– Families who qualify and submit the necessary paperwork in a timely manner will be
considered for financial aid, if eligible
